Deutscher Drahthaar / German Shorthaired Braco
The German Shorthair is used almost exclusively for hunting. It excels as a show dog and as a waterfowl hunter. Its best qualities are its tenacity, endurance and ardour.
The Drahthaar, as it is commonly known, is a breed created at the end of the 19th century. They were looking for a show dog that was strong, efficient and had a wire coat, and the German Shorthair was crossed with some rough-haired breeds, such as the Pudelpointer and the Deutsch Stichelhaar.
The Deutsch Drahthaar is an intelligent, persevering, brave, tenacious, curious and alert dog. It is affectionate and loyal to its owner and gentle and playful with children. It prefers country life to the hustle and bustle of the city.
