This imposing rhinoceros in chiseled silver was created on the basis of a woodcut by Albretch Dürer (1471-1528) in the British Museum in London.

The drawing was created from a written description and sketch of an Indian rhinoceros that arrived in Lisbon at the beginning of that year as a gift for King Manuel I.

The Rhinocerus 1515 in silver was developed as part of Leitão & Irmão's Exceptionals collection, pieces that are part of the House's bicentenary celebrations.
