Description

The Crocodile of Chelas evokes a prehistoric crocodile whose skull fossil was discovered in the location that gives it its name.

It is estimated that the crocodile that lived in the Chelas Valley around 11 million years ago was around 7m long and weighed around 2 tons, which is equivalent to the weight of objects such as a Jeep in the Cherokee model or adult animals such as giraffes or polar bears.

This project is yet another portrayal of the marvelous historical events of our time, which endures the lasting connection between art and science.

Sculpted in our Lisbon workshops by our resident sculptor.
