Ganda Godron Collection

From India to Lisbon

A vast collection of jewellery, whose initial designs were recently entrusted to Nathalie Castro, a Portuguese descendant with a renowned name in Parisian jewellery, has as its central theme the ganda and its fantastic journey from India to Lisbon, depicted in gold, precious stones and silver.

A collection that encapsulates the richness of history and the preciousness of materials, beauty and sensuality represented in shine, shape and colour.

The jewels of the Ganda Godron Collection include Manueline ropes, precious stones from India and diamonds from Brazil, as well as the exoticism of the gargoyles from the Tower of Belém and the richness of green velvet embroidered with gold flowers.

An exceptional gift

This imposing rhinoceros in chiseled silver was created on the basis of a woodcut by Albretch Dürer (1471-1528) in the British Museum in London.

The drawing was created from a written description and sketch of an Indian rhinoceros that arrived in Lisbon at the beginning of that year as a gift for King Manuel I.
