The Labrador is definitely in the top three most sought-after breeds as a pet. This breed suits owners who enjoy long walks! Friendly, generous and affectionate dogs. They are social beings who adapt and enjoy socialising with other animals and children, being patient and kind. However, they should never be abused. They are extremely loyal and love to be included in all aspects of family life. Labradors bark to draw your attention to the presence of strangers, but welcome them with open arms.
Labradors were trained to bring fishing nets from icy waters to fishermen and, at the beginning of the 19th century, they were taken to Poole Harbour in Great Britain. They were so attractive that the fishermen received numerous offers from Englishmen to buy them. The breed was an instant success as a hunting dog. The Earl of Malmesbury was fascinated by these dogs, known at the time as the St John breed, and began breeding them, calling them Labradors.
